Election groups

Several ballots for the same voter: an election group brings the resolutions of a meeting together under one shared electoral roll, with a single link per voter.

Each ballot keeps its own candidates, method and result. The group shares the roll, the organizer, the voting link and the steering.

The principle

Several ballots, one list of voters.

A group gathers the elections that concern the same people. You keep a single electoral roll, and each voter receives a single personal link, valid for every ballot in the group, including the ones you open later.

The group changes how you organize, never the vote itself: each election remains a ballot in its own right.

Shared by the group

  • The electoral roll

Entered or imported once, weights included.

  • The voting link

One personal link per voter, for every ballot.

  • The organizer

Name, description and logo, shown on every ballot.

  • The steering

Prepare, launch and follow from a single space.

Specific to each ballot

  • The candidates and the method

Simple majority or Condorcet ranking, number of winners, ballot rules.

  • The ballots and the register

One public register and one blockchain per election.

  • The result

Tallied and published ballot by ballot.

Examples

For which votes?

Whenever the same people decide on several questions.

  • A condominium meeting

Several resolutions voted at the same time.

Each resolution is an election, all opened together for the meeting. With weighted voting, each one counts the shares recorded once and for all on the shared roll.

    Agenda

    1. Annual budget Open
    2. Façade renovation Open
    3. Appointment of the managing agent Open
    Voting in a condominium
  • A general meeting

One resolution after another, or all at once.

One election per resolution, opened all together or as the agenda moves on: the same link serves from the first item to the last.

    Agenda

    1. Approval of the accounts Voted
    2. Discharge of the board Open
    3. Amendment of the bylaws Upcoming
    Voting at a general meeting

When a group is not the right fit

  • Different lists of voters

Every election in the group is open to the whole roll: you cannot reserve one for part of the voters. For separate electoral colleges, create separate elections.

    Building an electoral roll
  • Several equivalent seats

A seven-member council to elect fits in a single election with several winners, not in a group.

    Choosing the number of winners
Step by step

Running an election group.

The group space guides you: its “Steering” page tells you, at every stage, what is left to do and why.

  1. 1. Create the group

A name, a description, the organizer name and, if you wish, a logo, shown on every election in the group. The e-mail language is set in its settings.

  2. 2. Build the shared electoral roll

Enter the voters or import a CSV, TSV or Excel file: name, e-mail and, if needed, a weight. One roll for every election in the group.

  3. 3. Choose the voting key mode

Optional. By default, the platform provides the voting keys. You can open a key deposit window, optional or mandatory, set once for the whole group.

  4. 4. Create the elections

One election per decision, with the usual wizard opened from the group: its candidates, its method (simple majority or Condorcet ranking), its number of winners and its rules.

  5. 5. Mark them “ready”, then launch

“Mark as ready” checks that an election can actually open. “Launch the group” opens every ready election at once, after a summary of what will freeze and of the e-mail about to go out.

  6. 6. Follow and tally each ballot

Each election runs its own course: turnout, manual or scheduled close, tally, results. The elections table lets you act in bulk: close, publish, archive, schedule the close.

  7. 7. Close the group

Once all its elections are over, you close the group: no election can be created in it anymore. The registers and results remain available.

For voters

One link, one page, all their ballots.

Voters have nothing to install and no account to create: everything goes through their personal link.

How a vote runs, step by step
  • A single, permanent link

One personal link valid for the whole group, never one link per resolution. At each launch, a single e-mail lists the ballots that have just opened, with that same link.

  • The “Your elections” page

The link opens the list of their ballots: open, ballot cast, results published. Each one then opens the usual ballot.

  • Their voting key

By default, a voting key specific to each ballot is handed to them when they vote. If you open the key deposit, they deposit their own once: it serves every ballot in the group, current and future.

  • Reminders

A reminder to non-voters re-sends the same link. Only an explicit resend, voter by voter, creates a new one; the old one then stops working.

What to know before you start.

Election group

Official offer
What it does
Gathers several elections under a shared name, organizer identity and electoral roll.
When to choose it
When the same people vote on several decisions: resolutions, posts, motions.
What it changes
An account is required, and every election in the group is Official, each debited when it opens.
In detail

Creating a group is free. Every election created in the group receives the Official mark automatically, with no box to tick. It is debited when it opens: one credit per voter on the roll. Five resolutions for a roll of 300 voters therefore use 5 × 300 credits.

An election belongs to the group from its creation, and for good: an existing election cannot join it, an election of the group cannot leave it. Elections created without an account always remain standalone.

  • The roll freezes at the first launch

Additions remain possible until the first launch; edits and removals, until the key deposit opens or that launch. After that, the roll is frozen for the whole group, including for elections created later.

  • No additions during the vote

A standalone election accepts new voters while the vote is open. In a group this is not possible today: complete the roll before the first launch.

    Adding voters during the vote
  • A shared presentation

Name, description, organizer and logo can be edited as long as every election in the group is a draft. The thank-you message, however, stays specific to each election.

  • A final closure

Closing the group cannot be undone. Without activity, it happens on its own 90 days after its last election ended, with a warning e-mail 7 days before. Cancelling or archiving a whole group in one go is a platform administration operation, on a reasoned and logged request.

What the group changes for privacy

  • Participation visible from one ballot to the next

A voter carries the same identifier on every register of the group: anyone can see they took part in several votes, as on a meeting attendance sheet, never what they voted.

    Public register specification
  • Ballots that cannot be linked

Even when signed with the same deposited key, a voter's ballots leave a different anonymous trace in each election: publicly, nobody can link their ballots from one vote to another.

    Signed ballot specification
  • A key kept until the closure

So that a deposited key serves every election, the platform keeps, encrypted, the correspondence between each voter and their public key, as well as their permanent link, until the group closes. The secret key stays with the voter: if they lose or disclose it, it is for the whole group.

What is entrusted to the platform

Frequently asked questions

How do I run several ballots for the same voter?
With an election group: one shared electoral roll, one election per resolution, and a single personal link per voter, valid for every ballot in the group, including those opened later. It leads to the list of their ballots, from which they vote in each one.
Can a voter be added once the vote is open in a group?
Not today. The shared roll accepts additions until the first launch, including during the key deposit window, and is then frozen for every election in the group. Only a standalone election accepts additions during the vote.
How much does an election group cost?
Creating the group costs nothing. Its elections are all Official: each one is debited when it opens, one credit per voter on the roll. An election left as a draft costs nothing.
