Calendar & results

From draft to archive, each step freezes the election a little more. The two decisive actions, opening the vote and publishing the result, always remain yours.

The timeline

What freezes, step by step.

The further the vote goes, the less it can change: once voters are at work, the rules no longer move. Nothing is sent and nothing is published without your action.

For each step: what happens, what is frozen and what is still editable
Step What happens Frozen Still editable
Draft You prepare, at your own pace. Nothing is sent. Nothing Everything, electoral roll included
Key deposit period Each voter creates their key in their browser. The configuration Adding voters, closing date, thank-you message
Opening the vote Definition published on the register, links sent. The configuration and the voters' identities Nothing
Vote in progress Participation tracking, reminders, links resent. The voting rules Adding voters, closing date, thank-you message
Closing Voting links stop working. Everything: ballots and voters Nothing
Tally The result is calculated, visible to you alone. Ballots and method The calculation, re-runnable before publication
Publishing the results Public result, an e-mail to every voter. The result, as calculated Nothing
Archiving Result no longer shown, register still available. Everything Nothing
In detail
  • The key deposit period only exists if voters keep their own voting key. When it opens, each voter receives a personal link by e-mail to create it.

  • Opening is never automatic, and a closing date already in the past blocks it. The platform prepares the keys, publishes the election definition on the register, then sends each voter their link.

  • During the vote, a lost link can be resent: the previous one then stops working. A forgotten voter can still be added, except in an election group or with mandatory key deposit.

  • Ballots join the register in batches, never in the order they arrived. At closing, any key still held by the platform is erased and the participation list is published all at once.

  • The calculation runs in the background. If it fails, or whenever needed, you re-run it: with the same ballots and the same method, it always gives the same result.

After the vote

A published result, and everything needed to recount it.

The result does not rest on our word: everything needed to check it is freely available, without an account.

The results page

What it does
The complete ranking, the elected options and the count of valid, blank and invalid ballots. For a Condorcet ranking, the duels between options.
What it changes
Public as soon as it is published, without an account. The method used is shown, with a link to its explanation.
In detail

Before publication, the result is only visible in your organizer space. The page also shows, for comparison, the rankings of the other methods.

After archiving or cancellation, the page keeps its address but shows an explanatory notice instead of the result: links already shared never lead to an error.

The CEF export

What it does
The frozen list of ballots, in the Condorcet Election Format, an open, documented format.
What it changes
Anyone can recount with an independent tool, without trusting the platform.
In detail

The file is downloaded from the results page. It is a convenience: the same document can be rebuilt from the signed ballots of the register.

In a weighted vote, each ballot carries its weight.

The public register

What it does
The election definition, the keys allowed to vote, every signed ballot, then the participation list, in chained blocks.
What it changes
Anyone can check that no ballot was added, removed or altered.
In detail

It fills up throughout the vote: the definition and keys at opening, the ballots in batches, the participation list at closing.

The result itself is not written in it: anyone recalculates it from the ballots. The logo, photos and thank-you message are not included.

The chain files

What it does
The manifest, each block in JSON and its timestamp proof, downloadable for every election.
What it changes
Everything needed to keep your own copy of the register and check it yourself, outside the platform.
In detail

The timestamp proof anchors each block in the Bitcoin blockchain through OpenTimestamps: independently of the platform, it attests that the block existed no later than a given date.

The signature files (.sig)

Official offer
What it does
The platform's signature on each block, verifiable with a standard OpenPGP command.
What it changes
They prove each block really comes from the platform. Signatures are produced for every election; downloading them is part of the Official offer.
In detail

The platform's public certificates are published, including those of retired keys: a block signed with an earlier key remains verifiable.

Frequently asked questions

Can an election be changed once it is open?
Not its rules: options, voting mode, ballot rules and privacy are frozen at launch and published on the register, so that no one can change them mid-vote. You can still add a forgotten voter (except in groups and with mandatory key deposit), bring the closing forward or push it back, edit the thank-you message and resend a lost link.
When are the results of an online vote published?
Never automatically. After closing, you start the tally, review the result, then publish it when you are ready. Before that, it is only visible in your organizer space; afterwards, it is public and every voter receives an e-mail announcing it.
Can an election in progress be cancelled?
Yes, at any time before archiving. It disappears from the public pages and its result is never published, or withdrawn if it was. The register blocks already published remain valid: anyone who downloaded them can still check them. A draft is simply deleted.
